Professor Macdonald is a Transplant Hepatologist for the Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology and the Queensland Liver Transplant Service based at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane. He has authored over 100 publications. His research group is investigating the impact of various dimensions of physical fitness on outcomes for patients pre-, pre- and post liver transplant; and whether pre-habilitation (diet and exercise) can improve outcomes in this cohort.
